grant 2016 / stipendium 2016

How has the grant of Young Estonian Jewellery Foundation influenced your creative path?
The grant of Young Estonian Jewellery Foundation was a highly motivating acknowledgement, which provided me a slightly different insight of jewellery. It enabled to commit myself to jewellery also after receiving the grant, when I lived abroad.
I participated in the Schmuck Denken conference in Germany and went on to artist residency. For six months I worked in the world of crystals and precious stones in Idar-Oberstein. Long workdays in the lapidary workshop and exiting experiences in the old Uhrkettenfabrik opened for me the strange world originating from time machine. I also held some lectures introducing Estonia and my creation, and participated in the workshops of experts who taught the local stone cutting tradition.
What are you doing and where are you working at the moment?
At the moment I camp in the fabulous Luxembourg and enjoy nature in the cultural centre of the old Europe, where the castle at the top of a hill signifies long-term cultural consistency. I am a freelance jewellery artist and I have a small jewellery studio in Luxembourg. I prepare for the solo exhibition „Kairos” to be opened in August, which will be held in Hop Gallery in summer 2020. An exhibition is also planned in the city of Esch in Luxembourg, which is the world’s cultural capital 2022.
What do your hands speak about in 2020?
My hands do speak about drawing exhibition works for „Kairos“, soldering, engraving and polishing, and these in turn speak about urban society and group behaviour of people.

Kuidas mõjutas Noore Ehte Fondi stipendium Sinu loomingulist käekäiku?
Noore Ehte Fondi stipendium osutus väga motiveerivaks tunnustuseks, mis aitas ehtekunstile mõneti teisiti vaadata. See võimaldas pühenduda ehtekunstiga seotud tegutsemisele ka peale stipendiumit, võõrsil elades.
Osalesin Saksamaal konverentsil Schmuck Denken ning asusin sinna kunstnikuresidentuuri.
Töötasin pool aastat Idar-Obersteini kristallide ja vääriskivide maailmas. Pikad tööpäevad lihvimistöökojas ja põnevad kogemused vanas Uhrkettenfabrik’is avasid mulle ajamasinast pärineva kummalise maailma.
