Domestic Jewellery: special grant 2017 / eristipendium 2017

 

 

How has the grant of Young Estonian Jewellery Foundation influenced your creative path?
The acknowledgement to the Domestic Jewellery project rather had an impact on the attitude of my close people to my work and personality. After that, I definitely enjoyed brighter light, to the ultimate extent.  
What are you doing and where are you working at the moment?
Currently I work in my studio, in a quiet village in the heart of Portugal. 
I participate in the Handmedals project, some works are exposed in Tereza Seabra Gallery in Lisbon, some in Moscow, in an exhibition about women and minorities. I also donated one necklace to a charity project in Mexico and the other to Brazil. 
What do your hands speak about in 2020?
My hands speak about helping, first and foremost helping and feeding myself through work (a tough topic). I think about the complex of a white helper, about racism, while I cut hands for the Handmedal project (the project, where thousands of artists make medals for medical staff for their self-sacrificing work). I constantly think about death and aging, and my hands have a look of a hundred-year-old. 

Kuidas mõjutas Noore Ehte Fondi stipendium Sinu loomingulist käekäiku?
Tunnustus Domestic Jewelry projektile mõjutas pigem mu lähikonna suhtumist sellesse, mida teen ja kes olen. Olin pärast seda kindlasti helgemas valguses ja nautisin seda viimse piisani.  
Millega praegu tegeled, kus töötad?
Praegu töötan oma stuudios keset vaikselt hingitsevat küla Portugali südames. Võtan osa Handmedals-projektist, mõned tööd on väljas Tereza Seabra galeriis Lissabonis, mõned Moskvas naistest ja vähemustest kõneleval näitusel. Ühe kaelaehte annetasin Mehhikosse heategevusprojektile ja teise Brasiiliasse. 
Millest kõnelevad Su käed aastal 2020? 
Käed kõnelevad aitamisest, kõige rohkem enese aitamisest ja toitmisest läbi töö (raske kraam). Mõtlen valge aitaja kompleksist, rassismist, samal ajal saen palju käsi Handmedali projekti jaoks (projekt, kus tuhanded ehtekunstnikud teevad meditsiinitöötajatele medaleid nende ennastohverdava töö eest). Surmast ja vananemisest mõtlen pidevalt ja käed näevad välja nagu saja-aastasel.
